Purple Sparkles Monotone Manicure

Hi all! It's that time of the week again - and I'm here with a new look for ya!
I recently picked up two new polishes from RiteAid this weekend and here are my results.

They are actually pretty much the same hue, but one is a straight up shimmer while the other polish is infused with violet glitter. At first, I was torn as which to get, since essentially they were the same color, but for some reason I just couldn't resist having them both. ^^; Besides at about a dollar a pop it wasn't too hard to say yes.

Since, they were so close in color I decided I wanted to do a monotone look. Originally I was just going to do something simple like an accent nail. But when I tried that out, I just felt it was too booring!

So I thought why not get a little more adventurous! And thus I ended up with this look. Dotting, Taping, Striping and Chevrons everywhere! :P

My Lacquer List:
Wet n Wild Megalast - Disturbia 217B (Pretty Shimmer)
Wet n Wild Wild Shine - Night Prowl (Violet Glitter)

As you can see its pretty much the same color, but with different accents. And really, unless you're in the sunlight you won't be able to see all these subtle designs on my nails ^^;

I think I took the most photos for this look so far, because it was so hard getting the light to hit at the right angle! ^^; But there you have it. A sleek monotone look, without too much flair unless you pay attention to  the details.

Also I'm really digging the new wet n wild packaging. I know I mentioned in the previous Pastel Polka Dots French Nail Post, that they had new bottles. But their wide tipped brush makes applying this stuff a snap! And I'm all for easy :P

Well hope you all enjoyed. :D And please stay tuned for more manicures <3
Thank you!

Pastel Polka Dot French Nails

Hi all! I know it's not Manicure Monday >_<;;; But my school just opened again, and my scheduling is a bit different this quarter. So I think I might have to change to Tuesday as my start of the week!

Anyways lets get down to the goodies!

This weekend I picked up some cute new polishes from Wet n Wild Megalast Collection: Candy-licious/Rose bonbon (209C) and I Need a Refresh-Mint (218A) and had some fun!

They were just such sweet colors IMO I had to go back to doing something girly again :3
I was kinda digging my Mod nail phase, but alas it has temporarily come to an end. If you can consider 2 manis a Phase either way >_>;;;

But really, who can say no to some sugary colors and dots right? Throw in some glitter and Bam you're set! Feminine and frilly to the max. I just wish I had some deco bows to attach! Would be perfect Sweet Lolita Nails in a flash!

I had actually seen a similar Mani in a Japanese Nail Mag at one point, and always thought I wanted to duplicate it. Of course theirs was much more fancy with sculpted lace and bows. *g* Maybe one day I can get deco nails. Like for my wedding! XD

These French Nails are actually pretty simple to do. I just paint about half way down my finger tips and go back in with an acetone soaked Q Tip to create the clean curve. I then used some glitter clear coat and a toothpick to line the edges.

Lacquer List
Wet n Wild - Candy-licious/Rose bonbon
Wet n Wild - I need a Refresh-Mint
Nicole by OPI - Scandal Secrets & Sparkle

I love their new bottle and brush designs! Makes this line of lacquer look way more classy than the $1.99 price tag :P They even did the fancy side embossing of the glass, like on Essie bottles! :P You can kinda see it between my finger tips.

I know this one wasn't too fancy, but I hope you all enjoyed! While those more edgey nails usually took me less time, I think I definitely enjoy the look of Fruff more <3

Thanks for Reading!

China Glaze: Hunger Games - Fast Track

Happy Friday Everyone!
It's my goal to try and edge in two post per week instead of my usual onsie on Monday. With that said, I am still trying to figure out which day will be best for that, so please bear with the strangely erratic schedule for now v_v;;

Today I have another Hunger Games Lacquer for you from the China Glaze collection.
From District 6, I give to you Fast Track ~

I really fell in love with this color when I first saw it! Aside from Electrify, which just screamed Hunger Games, Fast Track was probably the first color to catch my eye as a polish. It's a lovely sandy nude, interspersed with sparkling, golden flecks.

I was kinda strapped for cash when this collection first debut, (otherwise I would have all of them!) hence my borrowing of Electrify. So I didn't actually buy this color that fateful night of our first meeting. Instead I ranted and raved about the collections awesomeness until my sister couldn't stand to listen to me anymore and she went out and bought it for me ^^;;; *spoiled*

I really love the subtlety of this lacquer! Reminds me of  a sophisticated pair of nude pumps; very lady like!

I ended up playing with my stamps and used plate m57 for the lattice print in Whirlwind White. One of my gals pointed out that it was almost snakelike! So I might actually try going for that look next time. Maybe use some sponging for lighter/darker areas and then a beige color to stamp the "scales" ~

What do you all think? Love the beige, nudes, and taupes lately? Or prefer something brighter with a bit more pop?

Revlon - Whimsical Polish Get!

Hi all! I may be a little late to the party but I finally got my hands on Whimsical!!! :P Ever since I first started seeing it pop up on other Lacquer Lover Blogs I knew I just had to have it.

With that said I really didn't do it justice by finding the right undercoat >_<;;; I guess I was so excited about finding it that it totally slipped my mind to pick up a suitable color too. So please don't be too horrified, but here is my version of Whimsical :D

I quickly realized that this was a problem after the first four coats of Whimsical on my bare nail was not doing the color in the bottle justice. So I rummaged around my polish collection and came up empty handed T_T I finally settled to using Sally Hansen - Blue Away. I know, not perfect, but better than nothing.

I'm now convinced I need to buy a more gray toned blue just so I can wear this polish right. :P Just another excuse to buy moarz!!! >D

I really love how this lacquer layers. Since it is so translucent you can see the glitters that came before it which gives great depth to the look.

My other favorite thing about Whimsical is that the glitters aren't overpowering in number, but there are still enough to get decent coverage. I hate it when polishes are too sparse with their dazzle and then you spend half an hour trying to dig out one speck!

While I am no polish professional  I suspect that this is due to the less heavy formula that allows for such easy access to the sparkles. Since, instead of being suspended in a thick clear polish Whimsical seems to be more "runny". Well either well I'm loving it and glad to finally get to see what all the fuss is about.

Final verdict: Definitely Worth the wait! :P

P.S. Stay tuned~ I'm thinking of doing some fun frenching on this look. I was just too excited that I finally got it on my nail to wait and share :P

Cracked Lava - Girl on Fire Rehash

Hi all ~ ! I have a fun little re-hash for you today. ^_^

I was so in love with my Girl on Fire nails, but just couldn't leave them alone. So I grabbed a bottle of China Glaze - Black Mesh and went to town. The results are as follows:

A fun transformation, no? It's like Girl in Lava nails instead now...well that sounds kinda of macabre but the result is really cool IMO. ^_^

Also I am pretty happy with how well this polish cracked. I usually get a pretty good shatter effect with the black crackles, but the other colors tend to give me a hard time. However, after trying this out I think that the texture of the glitter from Electrify underneath really helped break up the polish resulting in consistent shattering.

Well I hope you guys enjoyed this litter interlude! And I can't wait til tonight! *g* ~ Fufufufuuuu !

Hunger Games - Girl on Fire Polish

Hi all!!! I finally made it back to a Manicure Monday post! *Phew*
It's been a tough week but I was adamant that this polish post had to go out the beginning of this week to celebrate the opening of Hunger Games on Thursday!!!!

So I present to you, what me and my fellow Nail Lacquer Affectionados have dubbed
"Girl on Fire"

A little confused? That's okay because this is actually China Glaze's - Electrify from their Hunger Games collection layered over a reddish-raspberry OPI base color. (Sorry forgot the name T_T Nail Polish Blogger fail)

As soon as my friend saw this color she immediately thought of it being the Girl on Fire! And with all that red and gold sparkle who could blame her? So once she showed it to me and called it that the name sorta stuck :P

I tried to get a close up so you could see the gold glitter interspersed with red sparkles.  Its a fairly dense glitter polish which was a pleasant surprise and meant that I got really good glam coverage with just one coat.

All the other colors from this collection are gorgeous too but if I had to pick as the most "Hunger Games - ish" It definitely has to be this one so I'm glad its the one my gal decided to pick up in the end. ^_^ And even more glad she was kind enough to share and let me use it too!

So Hope you enjoyed. And is anyone else out there going to the Midnight Premier? :P I'm already debating whether I should deck myself out in some Capitol Garb or something for an added bit of fun while waiting line :P

Gold Foil French Mani

Happy Chinese New Year!!!

It's the year of the Dragon, according to the lunar calendar, and I thought what better way to ring in the luck than with some gold on my tips!

Okay its not actually gold foil, but large hex-shaped gold glitter I layered on :P But really, that doesn't sound anywhere near as decadent right?

And to get in the true spirit of things, I had to throw in some red for luck. >_>;;That may or may not be a Christmas ornament from a tree that might still be up....

But enough of my rambling, I'm sure you're all curious to know what polish I lacquered up with to obtain this ostentatious look.

And if you're thinking that it looks familiar then you'd be correct! It's Milani Jewel FX in Gold ~ which I've previous used on: Glitter PartyPedicure & Sail Away with Panda Nails

My favorite aspect of this polish is definitely the sparkle! And I don't mean delicate, frosty glitter, I mean all out big, bling in your face facets. Just lookit the reflections being cast on nearby nails, Emergency! Someone please alert the Dazzle Police!

I think of all the nails I've posted here this manicure was definitely the most attention grabbing so far. I had many admirers comment on my nails, (even at work!) probably because of all that shiny glitter dazzling out your eyes!

So hope you all have a delicious, food filled Lunar New year! :3 (best part in my opinion) With lots of luck in store for the year of the Dragon!

Glitter Party Pedicure

Hi all ~ Happy Freaky Friday! And to commemorate this date I have something a little different for you guys. Its a Pedicure! :D

I'm actually very lazy about doing my toes so this is like a once in a blue moon special.

I mixed two coats of Wet n' Wild – Sparked with one swipe of Milani Jewel FX – Gold and got this gorgeous result :3

Is it just me or do feet & toes look kinda weird? I once had a friend who could not look at people's bare feet, so if you are reading this...I'm Sorry! Look AWAY! :P

Its funny, for how obsessed I am about changing my manicures every week, I'm the total opposite for my toes.

I usually only paint them when I'm going to a special event/party and will be wearing peep-toe heels. So unfortunately these babies will stay this way until they have practically all chipped off >_>;;;

Anyone else lazy like me? Or are you equally fastidious about mani's and pedi's? :P

Finally here’s a little artistic bonus! While I was trying to photograph the nail polish bottles I got this uber close up of the nail lacquer bottles. Looks like city lights ~

Nail Inc. - Donmar New Year Nails

Hi all ~ I finally got my hands on this Nail Inc. lacquer set – The Donmar Collection.
My sister actually gave this to me for Christmas and I decided to do my New Year Manicure with it!

So here is what I was sporting on my tips a week ago to ring in 2012 :P

Isn't it super PRETTY! *g* I'm so in love with the irregular cut, holographic sparkles in the top coat. They glimmer an orange/green depending on the light <3 just like an opal!!!

Here is the super spiffy packaging. So drool worthy right? Also, I think they captured the range of color that the sparkles give off better than any picture I took so I wanted to share.

The base coat, Chelsea, is described as a “plum black” but I think its more of a dark maroon even though you can't really tell from the pictures. Not that it makes a huge difference since the star of this set is really the Donmar top lacquer.

My favorite part about this look is that the glitter is a separate top coat instead of being mixed in with the color polish. This means un-ending holographic glitter possibilities >:3 fufufuu ~

I laid down two coats of Nail Inc.'s Chelsea, and then stamped with China Glaze – Magical, a muted pinkish gold metallic. I finished it off with the Donmar top coat and voila! Its like a party on my fingertips :P

I used a couple different Konad plates for this look. I started out with the bows and hearts from m59 on my thumbs, index, and ring fingers. Then I used the central design from m38 for my middle finger. Last but not least I finished up with some stars from m3 on my pinky nails. :D

Cheers with my champagne ~

Thanks for reading! And I hope you all are having a wonderful start to the new year!
